Papa Joe and The New Deal

Vallejo’s own Papa Joe & The New Deal was born out of a small get-together of two seasoned musicians, Papa Joe Lucero (guitars and lead vocals) and Ed Rillera (keyboard and vocals), who in the past had promised each other that they would one day play together. Nine years later the band was created, featuring from six to nine pieces at any given time, and is continually in demand throughout Northern California.

With a consistent sound from a strong rhythm section featuring Elias Lucero on bass guitar and vocals, Dave McClure on drums and John Duarte on percussion, this dazzling vocal-driven band leads listeners musically through time with their selections of popular tunes from the past 50 years. Led by their talented female lead vocalists, Lani Parker, Janice Dispo and Selia Lucero, Papa Joe & The New Deal will take you on a musical journey from James Brown to Bruno Mars and all things in between, but always with their own twist of funk and soul.

There are decades of musical experience in this group and yet they possess a youthful spirit by engaging and embracing younger musicians to round out their signature sound. Without a doubt you will enjoy Papa Joe & The New Deal as they strive to make you part of the show. Do yourself a favor and catch them wherever you can and don’t forget your dancing shoes!
